Course Review

by Jamie Gray of Musashi Karate

Having studied this kata for around 40 years it’s a firm favourite so I was excited to try out Lee’s online course. I loved it! Lee’s manner and teaching style is very easy to follow and mixes studio with seminar with solo instruction brilliantly. Not only does the course give a good overview of the kata but it delves deeper into the principles contained within and Lee’s interpretation of the application. Its stressed that you build on this and make the kata your own by exploring applications based on the principles and your own interpretation. Going from solo form to partner applications and on to striking and pad work and into live drills. The methodology behind this course can be applied to any kata easily. If you study Ananko or even if you don’t, I would recommend giving this course a try, loads of great content.

Lee's Ananko Book

by Iain Abernethy

Lee understands the way kata works and in this book he reveals how Ananko contains knowledge of great value to the modern day martial artist. Personally, I don’t think it matters if one practises the kata or not in order to benefit from reading this book. Those who practise the kata will be inspired and delighted at the information it contains. Those that don’t practise Ananko will find seeing Lee’s approach in action an inspiration that is sure to help them explore their own kata.
